His Excellency Dr Mykola Kulinich, Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, hosted an event at the Commonwealth Club in Canberra last Thursday evening (Sept 27) to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Independence Day of Ukraine.  This is the third consecutive year that the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia has held this function.

Invited guests included diplomatic representatives from other countries and from the Australian Government, Australian-Ukrainian community leaders and an international delegation of clergy, including His Excellency Archbishop Daniel of Pamphilon from the United States, in Canberra to celebrate 70 Years of the Ukrainian Autocephalic Orthodox Church in Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Kulinich spoke of the progress Ukraine has made in those 27 years of independence and of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to improve its society, its economy and its governance as it strives for membership of the European Union and NATO against the enormous challenge of what is now the fifth year of Russian Aggression in Crimea and Donbass.

In 2016, Dnister and the Embassy of Ukraine to Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together for the benefit of the Ukrainian Community and as part of that commitment, Dnister is proud to have supported the Embassy with a grant towards the costs of each of these annual celebrations.
