Ukrainian Citizens can open banking services at Dnister
If you are a Ukrainian Citizen either in Australia or will be travelling to Australia after obtaining an Australian Visa you can arrange to open a bank account.
Please note that the account can only be opened if you are planning to travel to Australia within a 3 month period.
The advantage of opening an account provides you with the security of your money by sending your funds to your new account overseas. You will also be able to apply for Dnister Visa Debit card which can be used as additional identification in Australia.
Below we provide important information and applicable forms to commence the process and remember our team is here to assist you.
Identification Documents
To set up a Bank Account you will be required to have 2 key documents. The first is a Visa to Australia and the second is either your Ukrainian International Passport which has your photo or an Australian Immicard that you can apply for in the event that you do not have an International Passport. It is important that if you applying for a bank account from abroad that you take a photo of yourself along with your passport. Documents are required to be in English to be verified.
If providing your identification documents digitally from overseas you will need to provide clear “selfie” photo identification along with your Ukrainian International Passport or Immicard.
Application Form
All applicants will be required to complete the application form. After completing the form you will be required to sign the form and submit these to Dnister along with your Identification Documents. This can be done by attending one of our branches or if you are offshore scanning or taking a photo of each page of the form. You may submit these to Dnister electronically by email – admin@dnister.com.au. Each applicant opening a bank account will require separate forms and identification documents to be submitted. The application form is available in PDF format to print, complete and send or a fillable Excel Format that you may complete online, print, sign and submit.

Under our Australian Banking Licence, Dnister is not allowed to provide foreign exchange facilities and therefore is not able to exchange Ukrainian Hyrvnia (UAH) for Australian Dollars (AUD). It is highly advisable to open your Australian Bank Account before entering Australia, as this will enable you to transfer your Ukrainian funds to your Australian Bank Account in Australian dollars. For Ukrainians that have already arrived in Australia with Ukrainian Hyrvnia, we are investigating options and will provide further updates as information is received.
There are cash exchange facilities in major capital cities and some of the major banks may provide these exchange facilities, although these providers may charge a substantial fee for the conversions to AUD.
Yes, you can! We suggest that you contact us by email – admin@dnister.com.au and notify us of the date and amount you will be transferring.

You must ensure that you obtain confirmation from Dnister prior to transferring the funds that your account is active.
Failure to do this could have your funds significantly delayed and costly recovery costs.

The card usually takes around 10 working days to be processed. If you are in Australia and have a permanent address, the card will be sent to you directly. If you are currently still overseas or in transit we will hold the card for you at one of our branches in Australia for you to collect.
