Details | On October 26th, 2016, Stefan left Australia for Ukraine to shoot War Mothers. On August 17th, 2017, you are invited to see the stories he brought home.
War Mothers is the story of three women: Galina, Svetlana and Yulia. The live in the Ukrainian town of Zaporizhia. It is in Ukraine’s east, and is along the front of the ongoing war. All three have felt this war in their very homes. It has come to them as Ukrainians in a country in turmoil. It has come to them as women seeing the devastation unfolding around them. And it has come to them as mothers, with tragedy touching them personally. They are mothers of this war. They are War Mothers. Alongside the screening of War Mothers will be the world premiere of Life and Death in Vientiane, a documentary short by Rob Innes. It illustrates the trials faced by a small group of volunteers of the emergency rescue service in Laos. The screening will be accompanied by an introduction, and a Q&A, with War Mother’s director Stefan Bugryn, who travelled through the warzones and frontlines of Ukraine to create the project. The event is in official partnership with Time Out Australia and Ukraine Democracy Initiative. Please note: The event will be collecting donations, all of which will go to the volunteers, and helping raise awareness of the conflict in Ukraine. |
